Learners in massive open online courses often have nothing more than a certificate to show for their work, but MOOC provider Coursera is launching a new series of courses that offer something a little more tangible. Last week, Coursera announced a dozen project-based courses, in which learners complete tasks such as building an Android app, creating a website and writing a pilot episode for a TV or web show. The Berklee College of Music, Michigan State University and France's CentraleSupélec are among the first institutions to offer the project-based courses, which cost $49 or can be audited for free.
