Three students at Bethune-Cookman College were shot at a party early Saturday and the injuries were fatal for one student, a football player, The Orlando Sentinel reported. The injured students were shot in the back and the head.
For Bethune-Cookman, the latest shootings come five months after another deadly encounter involving its students. In September, a man shot and killed two of the university's students in a Daytona Beach apartment, and injured another. The man who killed the students, after he was captured, killed himself in a jail cell hours later.
A statement from the university said: "At Bethune-Cookman University, our first priority is the safety and well-being of our students. Our Critical Incident Care Team is currently providing grief counseling and support services to students who are in need. This is a very unfortunate incident and our thoughts and prayers are with the families, loved ones and fellow classmates of these students."
