Flooding in Baton Rouge Closes Campuses

Severe rainstorms and flooding in Baton Rouge led Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge, Southern University at Baton Rouge and Baton Rouge Community College to close campuses over the weekend. They will remain closed today. Many orientation-related programs for new students were postponed. Officials are evaluating damage.

At LSU, some students who had just moved into a residence hall had to be evacuated and moved to another dormitory (photo at right). Many roads on LSU's campus are dangerously flooded (photo below).
