Library Association Joins Advocacy Coalition

December 7, 2016

The American Library Association and 16 other organizations on Tuesday formed a coalition to advocate for media and technology policy making that emphasizes access, openness and privacy. The ALA, along with organizations such as the Center for Democracy & Technology, Common Cause, and New America’s Open Technology Institute, signed on to a set of principles that it said should guide the incoming administration's policy making in order to "ensure freedom of speech and equality of opportunity for all, while expanding the ability of the internet to drive economic opportunity and education," according to a press release. The full "Principles for Technology Rights and Opportunity" are available here.
