Kevin Eaton, the president of Weatherford College in Texas, is planning to step down from the position, although he didn't give a date or timeline for his resignation.

The Weatherford board extended Eaton's contract to 2019 following his annual review in December. Eaton came under fire last year when a local newspaper published an investigation claiming that he submitted false information about his past employment and hid details of a criminal conviction when he applied to the college. Eaton became president in 2009.

Eaton received the board's support following the allegations, however, his announcement arrives following a board election that saw the defeat of Chairman Frank Martin and another board member. Both candidates who won seats on the new Weatherford board expressed concerns during the campaign about the allegations.
