The number of international students in Canada increased by 16 percent from 2017 to 2018, following on a 20 percent increase the year before.

New data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada published by the Canadian Bureau for International Education also show that India has replaced China as the leading country of origin for international students in Canada. The number of students from India increased by 40 percent from 2017 to 2018, while the number from the No. 2-sending country, China, increased by 2 percent and the number from the No. 3-sending country, South Korea, increased by 5 percent.
