Chinese officials pressured a human rights institute affiliated with Concordia University, in Montreal, to cancel a talk involving a Uighur activist, according to an organizer of the event, Canada Radio International reported. The event proceeded as scheduled despite the pressure.
The Chinese consul general n Montreal could not be reached for comment, and the Chinese embassy in Ottawa did not respond to Radio Canada International's request for comment in time for publication.
