Over 60 science, engineering and education organizations sent a letter to U.S. science agencies requesting that they consider scientific enterprise when dealing with national security concerns.

The letter cited concerns among domestic and international scientists that recent policies and procedures being considered may harm scientific enterprise.

The groups said that while research should be safeguarded, the U.S. needs to remain a “welcome destination” for all researchers. Their letter encouraged agencies to strike a balance between scientific collaboration and economic and national security.
