Baker Tilly US, a forensic accounting firm, has begun its review of Liberty University’s business operations, the university announced Tuesday. Baker Tilly has been working on the investigation since early September.
The university also debuted a website, developed and hosted by a third-party vendor, that allows students and employees to report to the investigative team potential business operations misconduct or improper decisions by current or former administrators. The website will be available for 60 days.
“The Liberty Board and the independent investigative team are encouraging anyone with pertinent information to not delay in submitting a report through the platform,” a press release said. “Since the platform is independent of Liberty University, it is not a substitute for employees or students to report complaints of misconduct where the University has an established complaint procedure.”
Liberty retained the forensic firm after its former president, Jerry Falwell Jr., resigned in the wake of a string of scandals capped by press reports alleging lurid behavior.
