Students at Seattle Pacific University have ended a monthlong sit-in at the university, but they are vowing to sue.
Leaders of the students posted their plans on Instagram. The sit-in and the planned suit are over the university’s policy of discriminating against LGBTQ people in hiring and promotion.
“The board has elected to refuse our demands, meaning we will be moving forward with litigation. This is not a decision that we take lightly, but it is a decision we believe will protect the future of our university,” said the students.
Religion News Service said the students have raised $35,000 for the suit.
The board of Seattle Pacific said its policy would allow the university to “remain in communion” with the Free Methodist Church.
