Santa Ono will today be named the next president of the University of Michigan, The Detroit Free Press reported. The article cited multiple anonymous sources with direct knowledge.

Ono is president of the University of British Columbia and was formerly president of the University of Cincinnati.

He will succeed Mary Sue Coleman, who served as president from 2002 to 2014. She returned to the campus in January to replace Dr. Mark Schlissel, who was fired by the board for having an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate.
