Three students were shot early Wednesday at a house party just off the campus of Tennessee State University, The Tennessean reported. That report (and others) said those shot (all of whom have been hospitalized) included one student each from Tennessee State and Middle Tennessee State University. Reports disagreed on the college of the third student. While two of the injured were described as having non-life-threatening injuries, the third was described as in critical condition, having been shot in the head.
The shootings in Tennessee follow shootings Friday at Northern Arizona University and Texas Southern University, each of which left a freshman dead. Also this month, a lone gunman killed nine people and injured seven more at Oregon's Umpqua Community College in the third-most-deadly mass shooting ever to occur on a college campus.
