Stockton University suspended a visiting professor of physics who was accused of harassment and retaliation at his former institution, Lafayette College, NJ.com reported. Lafayette fired the professor, Andrew Kortyna, in 2015, after he was found to have written notes to a student about his feelings towards her and then told another student that she would regret filing a related complaint. Stockton administrators did not find out about Kortyna’s history until after he was hired, as the termination did not come up in a regular background check, according to the Press of Atlantic City. A spokesperson for Stockton said that the case is under administrative review, in accordance with the faculty union contract. Kortyna sued Lafayette, saying the case against him was vague and discriminatory. His suit was dismissed in 2018.
