Johanna Alonso

I'm Inside Higher Ed's admissions and enrollment reporter, a beat that encapsulates everything from college affordability to international enrollment. I've been on the beat for over a year now after transitioning from student life, which I covered from 2022-2025. Before arriving at Inside Higher Ed, I reported on business, nonprofits, healthcare and education in Maryland.

I graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, in 2020 with duel bachelor's degrees in English and media and communications studies, and I currently live in Baltimore. Outside of journalism, I spend most of my time crocheting, making music, going to the theatre, and reading other people's journalism. Feel free to reach out via email at johanna.alonso@insidehighered.com or on social media at LinkedIn or Bluesky.
