Help for the Unemployed
Cornell waives application fees for M.B.A. programs for those recently unemployed by technology companies.

Many colleges have fee waivers, either for low-income students or for all applicants.
Such efforts have been more rare in M.B.A. admissions. But Cornell University’s business school has just waived application fees, which total $200, for those who were laid off by tech companies.
In October, nearly 29,000 people at 150 companies lost tech-related jobs. Since Nov. 1, more than 25,000 more tech employees have been laid off.
The business school “has a strong track record of developing tech leaders and helping those students who seek to pivot into and out of tech positions,” said Dean Mark Nelson.
