A correspondent recently sent me a link to a Washington Post column.  It's a couple of weeks old now, but major news stories still have legs longer than that.  Written by Barry Ritholtz, it's the clearest, most succinct and most accurate short statement I've seen yet about how the USA went over the financial cliff, who was driving the bus we were all riding, and how those same folks (and a lot of the supposedly independent media) are trying to rewrite the story.

It's well worth five minutes of your time.  And, as with so many aspects of any sustainability problem, it reminds us that what we need to deal with is the problem we've got, not the one someone else would like us to believe (or pretend we believe) we have.
