EDUtweetups Now at Inside Higher Ed

When a friend and colleague creates something that benefits the higher education community, I generally try to get the word out about it in as many places as possible. That was the case last year when Mike Petroff debuted EDUtweetups -- "the home of higher ed hashtags." The site was a terrific resource for anyone who wanted to keep track of the many higher education related hashtags and events.

I'm pleased to announce that Inside Higher Ed has recently partnered with Petroff to create a Twitter Calendar and Hashtag Directory for Higher Ed at InsideHigherEd.com. As a PLN (Personal Learning Network) and overall source for collaboration/connection-making, Twitter has become a core communications tool for many higher education practitioners, EDUtweetups provides a necessary organizational component in keeping track of the "sphere."

Since the partnership with EDUtweetups, InsideHigherEd.com now hosts the Twitter Calendar of the upcoming conference events and chats with Twitter hashtags along with a Directory of Higher Ed Hashtags. Organizers of upcoming conferences or Twitter chats can submit their events to be considered for the Twitter Calendar. General higher education hashtags can be submitted for consideration on the directory page as well. It's basically a one-stop shop for the increasing number of hashtags and Twitter-related conversations. For associations and event hosts, getting your information on IHE is a great way to reach current and new audiences. I love projects like this as it benefits the entire community.

Additionally, the @EDUtweetups Twitter account will be sharing information about upcoming events and reminders about hashtags to follow.
