I'm a big fan of LinkedIn. It's often my go-to social media site for professional networking, recommendations, and group discussions. My LinkedIn profile serves as my online professional fact sheet. It tells you just enough about me to get you interested. I've found that LinkedIn is a fantastic place to give and receive recommendations. I find that my connections on the site have a terrific willingness to engage. LinkedIn has a more professional feel to it than other social media sites. Perhaps that is why I think it is a perfect place for student affairs associations to connect with their members. I'm currently a member of several association groups on LinkedIn. The discussions and news items are generally informative and insightful.
While I'm certain that I have missed a couple of associations in my quest to join all of the student affairs LinkedIn groups that I can, here's a solid start to getting connected:
There are a few student affairs associations that I couldn't find on LinkedIn {subtle nudge}. LinkedIn group discussions are an interesting mix of questions, promotions, and engagement. It's really up to you how you utilize LinkedIn for your professional journey. If you want the chance to connect with your peers in similar functional areas, LinkedIn is a phenomenal place to get started.
