The Pew Charitable Trusts announced Tuesday that it would spend $3.5 million over the next two years to study issues related to student debt and how the student loan system could be improved.
A California appeals court has dismissed a lawsuit challenging the admissions policies of the California State University System for considering SAT scores, the Associated Press reported. The suit charged that using the SAT discriminated against Hispanic applicants, but the court said that the anti-discrimination law cited by the suit did not apply to the Cal State system.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Invitation Tournament have apparently reached a settlement in the NIT's antitrust lawsuit against the NCAA, according to the Associated Press. The two parties released no details about the apparent agreement in the case, in whichthe NIT charged the NCAA with trying to run it out of business.
