Dear Leading Change / Frye Institute graduates. What advice do you have for the 2017 cohort?
For those who have attended this or other immersive professional development opportunities, what words of wisdom do you have for getting the most out of the experience?
Next week I’ll be ensconced with 34 of my fellow higher ed colleagues at an undisclosed location (actually the Marriott Marquis in Washington DC). We will be immersing ourselves in the arts and sciences of postsecondary change leadership.
Those who have been through the Institute speak of it as a transformative experience. Members of Leading Change cohorts seem to build unusually strong lifelong professional bonds.
Our higher ed world is a small one, and the 650 or so Leading Change / Frye graduates (since 2000) seem to occupy a disproportionate number of postsecondary leadership roles. Leading Change is part of the connective tissue that binds the larger world of higher ed technology and academic library leadership.
The truth is, I’m a little bit intimidated by the opportunity to attend Leading Change.
So many of the amazing leaders in the higher ed library and technology world that I know are Leading Change alumni.
I’ve been working at the intersection of postsecondary learning and technology for 20 years now, and most days I still feel like I have no idea what I’m doing.
The Leading Change / Frye graduates that I know approach their higher ed leadership roles with a degree of confidence and skill that I've always admired.
What other intensive multi-day / week long leadership development programs in higher education are available?
Leading Change is for " higher education, including CIOs, librarians, information technology professionals…” Are there other development opportunities for mid-career aspiring leaders in these, and in other, areas of higher education?
