The former president of Lake Michigan College, Jennifer Spielvogel, filed a lawsuit last week in U.S. District Court against the college and its Board of Trustees for wrongful termination, according to The Herald-Palladium.

Spielvogel was hired in January and unanimously fired by the board in May for allegedly expensing more than $20,000 in unapproved and unauthorized costs, violating policy, failing to establish goals, and lacking professionalism.

In the lawsuit, Spielvogel asserts that she was targeted for termination after claiming to have found Lake Michigan to be out of compliance with federal financial aid rules for students.
