The College of St. Scholastica and Linfield College have become the latest to end requirements that all undergraduate applications submit SAT or ACT scores.

St. Scholastica officials said that they expected that the change, approved by the Faculty Assembly, to add to the diversity of the applicant pool.

Ellen Johnson, vice president for enrollment management at St. Scholastica, said in a statement that "a standardized test score can be an appropriate part of the application process for some students, but not all. We want to give students the opportunity to present the best picture of their academic experience in high school. We look at who they are as a person and what they will bring to our learning community."

Linfield College announced that it was dropping the testing requirement except for certain groups, such as homeschooled students and those applying without a weighted grade point average of at least 3.0.
