  • The massive open online course provider Udacity has scrapped founder Sebastian Thrun's bold promise that anyone who completes one of its Nanodegree Plus programs will get their tuition back if they don't get a job within six months. 
  • Two op-eds explore the pros and cons of California's new online community college, which “Inside Digital Learning” has covered extensively. Christopher Newfield and Cameron Sublett argue that online education is an engine of racial inequality, and that no good higher ed policy can be created ignoring that fact. Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley says the online community college will be a better public alternative to for-profit colleges for the “stranded workers” traditional college systems struggle to serve.
