A District of Columbia judge on Monday approved a plan to merge the Corcoran College of Art + Design into George Washington University, while the Corcoran Gallery of Art will become part of the National Gallery of Art, the Associated Press reported. Some students and faculty members challenged the plans, but the judge said that the planned mergers were justified. It is unclear if the legal challenges will continue.
