Drew University two years ago became one of the very few colleges that dropped an SAT/ACT requirement for applicants and then restored the requirement. But on Wednesday, the university announced it is again dropping the requirement. In a statement, MaryAnn Baenninger, president, the president, said, “Drew has and continues to attract high-caliber students who have completed a rigorous high school curriculum. Those students are succeeding at Drew regardless of their SAT test scores, which do not always give an accurate assessment of their abilities. This decision to make the scores optional will give applicants the confidence to know that our university looks at the whole student in making our admissions decisions.” Drew said that it expects those applying without test scores should have at least a B average in rigorous college preparatory courses.
