Corporate Leaders Urge Support for Basic Research

Leaders of more than three dozen companies signed an advertisement in The Wall Street Journal Wednesday expressing their support for funding of basic scientific research. The ad, sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg Public Policy Center, notes the many societal innovations that have flowed from basic research, such as smartphones, cancer proton therapy and magnetic resonance imaging.
