Duke University announced Monday that it has agreed to pay $112 million to the U.S. government to resolve a lawsuit over research misconduct. The misconduct involves false and fabricated data produced by a research technician, since fired, but used in numerous studies. Duke has retracted various studies based on the false information and has instituted new procedures to prevent similar fraud.
