Students and others held a protest Wednesday at Western Kentucky University over the removal of Larry Snyder as the dean of the university's college of arts and letters. The dean has been popular on campus and is seen as someone who has defended liberal arts departments in the face of tight state budgets.
A university spokesman said that the university sent out this notice from Provost Terry Ballman on Snyder moving back to the faculty, effective immediately. "I’m writing to inform you that effective March 27, Dr. Larry Snyder has elected to step down as dean for the Potter College of Arts & Letters. Dr. Snyder will be on leave preparing to resume his duties as a member of our faculty. I wish to thank Dr. Snyder for his service as dean," the notice said.
