Erie Community College is laying off 60 people in nonfaculty jobs, The Buffalo News reported.
The cuts are in addition to 90 that were approved two weeks ago.
President David Balkin said it was unfortunate that some of the layoffs will undo “some of the important diversity work we have accomplished in recent years.” Collective bargaining agreements with the unions force the college to cut less senior staff first, and so some minority individuals will lose their jobs.
