Inside Higher Ed’s third annual Survey of Campus Chief Technology/Information Officers was conducted by Hanover Research. The survey included 82 chief technology and information officers, mostly from public and private nonprofit institutions, for a margin of error of 11 percent. The response rate was 5 percent.
On Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. E.T., Inside Higher Ed will present a free webcast to discuss the results of the survey. The 2024 Survey of Campus Chief Technology/Information Officers was made possible by support from HelioCampus, Jenzabar and Grammarly.
Both the survey and accompanying webcast are based on campus CTO/CIOs’ takes on key topics, such as AI adoption, cybersecurity/data breaches, trends in higher education hiring for technology roles and the viability and sustainability of remote work and high-quality online education.
Specific findings include:
- How concerned most CTO/CIOs are about AI’s growing impact on higher education
- How confident CTO/CIOs are in their institution’s practices to prevent cyberattacks
- Reasons behind the challenges in hiring technology employees within the higher education sector
- The viability of remote/flexible work at institutions, technology-wise
- Whether CTO/CIOs believe their college or university can continue to offer high-quality online courses in the long run
