New Compilation: A Focus on Action Toward Student Success
Earlier this year, Inside Higher Ed presented a compilation of articles that explored 1) public perceptions of higher education’s value and 2) attempts to redefine value in ways that center access, completion and student success. Turns out, there was a lot to say.
So we’re continuing the conversation with a new, free booklet out today, called, “Focus on Action: What Policymakers and Colleges Are Doing to Promote Student Success.” We’re leaning into student success this time around because there’s so much happening in this space across higher education.
One article, for example, looks at a bipartisan effort in Colorado that could make the state a national model for closing loopholes and ensuring transparency in the too-often-murky transfer process. Another article lists institutional best practices for supporting students who are parents. Yet another details a new scholarship program at Austin Community College, covering the final 15 credit hours for degree seekers. These efforts and others reflect a broader commitment to centering value in higher education and to growing public trust and confidence in the role colleges and universities play in expanding opportunity.
