Seven members of the San José State University women’s volleyball team, which was embroiled in controversy this year over a member of the team who is allegedly transgender, have entered the transfer portal, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

The seven players are looking for a “fresh restart,” an anonymous source told the paper. Meanwhile, the source said that four incoming transfers have committed to play for the Spartans.

Neither the allegedly transgender player nor the teammate who spearheaded a lawsuit over her inclusion on the team are among that number, as both are graduating seniors this year.

In a statement to Fox News, the university said, “Student athletes have the ability to make decisions about their college athletic careers, and we have the utmost respect for that.”
