Pace University is condemning and investigating a photo circulating on social media that appears to show the college's football captain, Tyler Owens, wearing a Confederate flag and making a Nazi salute, The Journal News reported. President Steven J. Friedman sent a campuswide email in which he said the player -- whom he did not name -- is no longer captain and "will not participate in university football activities pending the outcome" of an investigation. Friedman added: "The photograph is highly offensive and contrary to the values of diversity, inclusiveness, and embracing the ethnic and cultural differences among students, faculty and staff that are deeply held at Pace University and its athletics department."
