Cornell University Picks USC Provost as Next President

Cornell University's next president will be Elizabeth Garrett, the current provost at the University of Southern California. Garrett, a law professor who clerked for Justice Thurgood Marshall, will become Cornell's first female leader on July 1. The outgoing Cornell president, David Skorton, is leaving next summer to become the head of the Smithsonian Institution.
