Image Database Artstor Joins Ithaka

Artstor and JSTOR may sound suspiciously similar, but the two databases have been operated by separate nonprofits -- or at least they were until Thursday. Ithaka, which owns JSTOR, announced it has partnered with Artstor, bringing the organization in under its management. Customers who subscribe to Artstor's products, such as its image database, will be unaffected by the move, Ithaka and Artstor said in a press release. The organizations are exploring how to combine the capabilities of the different databases.
