Brown Mackie Will Close Most of Its Colleges

June 13, 2016

Brown Mackie College, a for-profit institution, plans to close most of its 25 campuses, The Consumerist reported. Officials of the for-profit college are promising teach-outs, in which students can finish up programs and receive assistance transferring to other programs. The Brown Mackie system dates to an original college founded in 1892. In 2003, the colleges were purchased by Education Management Corporation.

A spokesman said via email on Sunday that the college would continue to accept students at its campuses in Akron and North Canton, Ohio; Hopkinsville, Ky.; and Bettendorf, Iowa.
