Facing protests by black students, the University of Kentucky made a series of pledges to them this week. Among the pledges: including "a representative from the Black Student Advisory Council on all senior-level search committees (deans and high-level administrators)," standardizing the role of diversity officers throughout the university, covering a mural that includes images of black people widely seen as racist, and staffing a center to help students dealing with food insecurity.
