A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit has ruled that the University of Chicago must recognize and negotiate with a union of part-time student workers in its library. The decision is on the narrow issue of the university's challenge to that outcome. The court noted that the university did not challenge the 2016 decision on which the National Labor Relations Board based its ruling, and so the court did not consider that issue. The court considered only whether the NLRB was correct in rejecting the university's arguments, and said that the NLRB was correct.
