Harding University's Board of Trustees announced Friday that it will be replacing President Bruce McLarty.

“Recent economic and higher education trends have created an extremely challenging business environment that has impacted the institution, leading the board to make a change,” Robert Walker, chair of the Board of Trustees, said in the news release.

McLarty, who has been president for seven years, will retire Nov. 30 and be replaced with David Burks, who was president from 1987 to 2013. A committee is set to “evaluate a broader presidential search.”

Harding is a private Christian university in Arkansas.
