Former U.S. education secretary Betsy DeVos has recently poured $250,000 into Elon Musk’s super PAC, despite having resigned from the Trump administration after the Jan. 6 insurrection, The Independent reported.

Other members of DeVos’s family have also contributed, according to the most recent Federal Election Commission summary, which spanned Oct. 1 to 16.

DeVos was the second cabinet member to resign in response to Trump’s actions and the riot at the U.S. Capitol.

“There is no mistaking the impact your rhetoric had on the situation, and it is the inflection point for me,” she wrote in her 2021 resignation letter. “Impressionable children are watching all of this, and they are learning from us.”

But DeVos has previously called for abolishing the Department of Education—something Trump has openly promoted in the 2024 campaign. She recently told The Detroit News that she would work in the Trump administration again “only if it was with the goal of phasing out the Department of Education as we tried to do through budgetary process in the first administration.”
