Institutions Estimate Fund-Raising Up 5.1%

Colleges and universities estimate their fund-raising is up 5.1 percent in the last year, according to a recent survey by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Fund-raising estimates are higher at private institutions (a 5.9 percent uptick) than at public ones (between a 4.8 and 5.9 percent increase). The 20-year average for year-to-year growth in actual giving is 5.9 percent. This year's estimated growth is slightly lower than the 5.4 percent growth predicted by fund-raisers at the beginning of the 2014-15 academic year, according to the survey.
