North Carolina State University suspended David Davis, a research associate professor of physics, who allegedly said that the women in his class were “useless” earlier this week when they didn’t have answers to his questions. Davis allegedly also said he was clearly joking -- because women are essential for reproduction. He has not commented publicly on the allegations against him and did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The suspension was first reported by WRAL. Lauren Leslie Barker, a university spokesperson, told the TV news station that the faculty member was "immediately suspended from teaching while this incident is being further investigated." NC State takes "pride in our campus culture, which values and strives to live our commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity," Barker added.
