The Bard, Seuss and Twitter

Most of the e-mails we received about sites we should waste time enjoying promote political humor or cat videos (and we try to resist). But every now and then, an influential figure in the literary world suggests online amusements worth sharing.

The Twitter hashtag SeussSpeare has captivated many scholars of the Bard in the last few days with tweets rewriting the words of Shakespeare in Seussian rhymes (and in Twitter lengths). Among our favorites:

• I will not kill him with a sword. I will not kill my Scottish lord. I will not stab him in the back. I do not want to, Lady Mac.
• I would not, could not kill the King. I would not murder anything. Green Eggs and Hamlet.
• Did you hide him here, or there? I hid Polonius under the stairs.
• He meant what he said and he said what he meant, faithful Iago's word is one hundred percent.
• It's blood, war and rape, and severed limbs spilling. But the best part of Titus is the meaty pie filling.
• Romeo, oh Romeo. Oh, the places you'll go!
