The following colleges and universities have announced their commencement speakers for spring 2012:

  • Augustana College: Philip William McKinley, director of the Broadway show SPIDER-MAN: Turn off the Dark.
  • City University of New York Graduate Center: Janet Gornick, professor of political science and sociology at the Graduate Center.
  • College of Saint Rose: R. Mark Sullivan, who is ending a 16-year tenure as president of the college.
  • Marist College: Chuck Todd, NBC News chief White House correspondent; Lynn Bassanese, acting director of the FDR Library.
  • Maryville College: Delores Bowen Ziegler, the mezzo-soprano.
  • Monmouth University: Mark Emmert, president of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
  • New York School of Interior Design: Amy Lau, the interior designer.
  • Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science:  Richard Trainor, principal and president of King’s College London.
  • Saint Mary's College of California: Tom Meschery, a poet and former basketball player and coach; and Jim Fruchterman, CEO and founder of the nonprofit Benetech, which uses technology to address social needs.
  • Southern Polytechnic State University: David Connell, president and CEO of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce.
  • University of the Arts: Neil Gaiman, the author and graphic novelist.
  • Western Illinois University: Jack Thomas, president of the university.
