  • Grinnell College: Zadie Smith, the novelist.
  • Grove City College: Ben Carson, the former medical professor at Johns Hopkins University and the former presidential candidate.
  • Kalamazoo College: Gay McDougall, international human rights lawyer, activist and scholar; and Bonnie Jo Campbell, the author.
  • Lehman College of City University of New York: Billy Collins, the former U.S. poet laureate who is also a distinguished professor of English at Lehman.
  • Queens College of City University of New York: Darren Walker, president of the Ford Foundation.
  • Reed College: Laleh Khadivi, the novelist.
  • Salve Regina University: Barry Black, chaplain of the Senate.
  • School of Visual Arts: Carrie Mae Weems, the photographer.
  • University of Massachusetts at Lowell: Judy Woodruff, co-anchor and managing editor of the PBS NewsHour; and Keith Lockhart, the Boston Pops conductor.
  • University of Washington: Sally Jewell, U.S. secretary of the interior.
