The following people were recently appointed to leadership positions in online or digital learning at their institutions:

  • Bharat Anand, the Henry R. Byers Professor of Business Administration at Harvard University, in Massachusetts, has been selected as vice provost for advances in learning there.
  • Kelvin Bentley, vice president of academic affairs at Tarrant County College Connect Campus, in Texas, has been named assistant vice president for digital learning and innovation at the University of West Florida.
  • Benjamin Deaton, assistant provost for academic innovation and digital learning and executive director of the AU Center for Innovation and Digital Learning at Anderson University, in Indiana, has been promoted to vice president for technology, online learning and innovation there.
  • Barney Gomez, former chief technology officer and chief information officer at the California Department of Health Care Services, has been appointed vice chancellor for digital innovations and infrastructure at the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.
  • Eamon Newman, technology trainer at Waubonsee Community College, in Illinois, has been selected as assistant dean for online learning and flexible delivery there.
  • Jason Rhode, director of the faculty development and instructional design center at Northern Illinois University, has been promoted to executive director of extended learning there.
