Berkeley Opens Universal Locker Room

Many colleges have created small changing rooms for transgender students who use campus recreational facilities. This week, the University of California, Berkeley, is opening a large universal locker room -- including private changing areas and showers -- for such students. The universal locker room is expected to also serve some students with disabilities or body image issues for whom traditional locker rooms may discourage use of recreational facilities on campus.
