The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has agreed to pay Nikole Hannah-Jones a sum that is less than $75,000 not to sue it, The News & Observer reported.

Hannah-Jones was offered a job at Chapel Hill, but without tenure. Those who held the position previously had been tenured. She subsequently accepted an offer from Howard University and threatened to sue UNC.

“As a part of the agreement, the university will accelerate its investment in crucial initiatives in Carolina Next, its strategic plan, to further that ongoing work,” a university statement said. The university said the statement was “all the information we have to share at this time."
