Commencement Speakers Announced: American Public, Bennington, CC of Denver, Daemen, Dominican California, Northeastern, Pratt, Salem State, Union, U of Miami, U of the Arts, Vassar

The following colleges and universities have announced their commencement speakers for spring 2015:

  • American Public University System: Admiral Michelle Howard, vice chief of naval operations.
  • Bennington College: Gloria Steinem, the feminist leader.
  • Community College of Denver: U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
  • Daemen College: John K. Castle, chairman and chief executive officer of Castle Harlan; and John J. Connolly, president and CEO of Castle Connolly Medical.
  • Dominican University of California: Major General (retired) Angela Salinas of the U.S. Marine Corps.
  • Northeastern University: David Muir, the anchor of ABC World News Tonight.
  • Pratt Institute: Karen Brooks Hopkins, president of the Brooklyn Academy of Music; and Holland Cotter, art critic at The New York Times.
  • Salem State University: Susan Wornick, a news anchor and consumer activist; Maura Healey, attorney general of Massachusetts; and David S. Ferriero, archivist of the United States.
  • Union College, in New York: Devin Wenig, the CEO designate of eBay.
  • University of Miami: Jimmy Buffett, the singer.
  • University of the Arts: Lynda Barry, the cartoonist and author.
  • Vassar College: Arianna Huffington, editor in chief of the Huffington Post Media Group.
