Facilities at Oklahoma Baptist University, including two historic buildings, experienced significant damage last week when a tornado ripped through campus, KOCO 5 News reported.
The tornado, one of several reported across the state last week, ripped up multiple trees on campus and damaged Shawnee Hall—OBU’s first academic building, which opened in 1915—and a chapel central to campus life. Despite the property damage, no fatalities or injuries were reported at OBU.
However, the damage to campus is extensive enough that Oklahoma Baptist president Heath Thomas told local news stations that the university may finish the current semester online.
